BACON. ‘NUFF SAID.
Written by Dana Soprano
It’s my turn to write these posts for a week and my first thought was to write about nutrition. Everybody’s got questions all the time about it but it seems like the science behind what’s good and what’s heart-attack causing is constantly changing. I mean, take eggs for example, the high quality protein always got blamed for cholesterol issues for decades, but now it seems there’s no proof of them being the culprit! It’s exhausting which foods are in and which are out in the health world. But, I am still a major FOOD addict, so I’ll go ahead and try to humor you with some non-scientific food talk this week. It’s going to be mostly about bacon, probably. Most likely. Definitely. Bacon.
And on to today’s ramblings...
I’ve got this problem. Maybe you can help me with it. Whenever I see FREE candy, chocolate, cookies, cakes, pie, muffins, etc. my survival instincts kick in and tell me I need to eat everything in sight because maybe there won’t be any food later and I will starve to death. I mean, the hunter/gatherers wouldn’t pass by a berry bush without stopping to feast would they? I used to think it was a lack of self control, but I’m going to just blame it on being less evolved than some other people. But, unfortunately, when I indulge in these deliciously evil treats I get a blazing headache right behind my eyes and I start to feel dizzy. Then, 20 minutes later I just want to curl up into fetal position and sleep for days.
So, with that said, I’m giving myself a personal challenge this week (IF YOU JOIN ME I’LL BE SO MUCH MORE SUCCESSFUL!) to not eat any candy, chocolate, cookies, cakes, pies, muffins, etc (yes, this includes coffee mania drinks full of yumminess). You know, all the things that are 90% sugar and at the top of the glycemic index. It’s only a week. Actually, less than a week. I’m committing to 5 full days– Monday through Friday. This may be easy for some of you, and I applaud you.
So, write in the comments section below if you’re in for the ride. Can we get 5 people to go nearly sugar free for 5 days?
And on to Monday’s WOD…
