Memorial Day has come and gone,

The kick-off to a summer so long.

Dog days are sure to bring the heat,

You'll sweat so much you'll want to cheat.

But stick it out until the end,

If you want to reach your goal my friend.

We all want to be jacked and tan,

Bigger than the ocean, hotter than the sand,

And the best way to start that plan...

is with a little workout named:

FRAN.

That's right! It's time to do FRAN! For those of you who aren't familiar with Fran, it's about time that you get familiar.  It's probably the most infamous workout of CrossFit.  The WODs that are named after girls are no joke.  They are the original "bench mark" WODs of Crossfit; meaning that they're meant to be tough and done every so often so that you can compare times and see measurable results.

This article from the CrossFit Journal (from all the way back in 2003!! How many of you had ever even heard the word CrossFit at that time?! I sure hadn't) goes into detail about the original girls and the purpose of benchmark workouts.

By the way, if you want access to "more information than you could possibly read about CrossFit in a lifetime", subscribing to the CrossFit journal is FREE. That's right, I said it! FREE.  You do need to make a user name and sign up like any other subscription, but you don't have to pay a dime and you won't get any annoying spam e-mails.

WOD:

FRAN

21-15-9

Thrusters (95/65)

Pullups

And here's a video of some crazy peeps playing around with a more intense version of the workout; "Frantasy Land"  (And by crazy people, I mean Rich Froning and James Hobart, so I'm not exaggerating. Crazy.)
