Early Post tonight! Why? Well because we want you to take a few minutes and look at some of these videos. This is a series of videos from the guys at Barbell Shrugged and Technique WOD. What they did is break down the Olympic weightlifting movements into several short videos. I do not expect all of you to watch all of these videos tonight but I would like you to try and take a few minutes and watch a couple of them if you can. Try to think about what part of the movement you struggle with the most. Is it the first pull of your snatch or is it the dip and drive with the Jerk?
Watching these videos might not make you a better lifter overnight but if you are thinking about sound technique when you go through these complex movements then you will be on the path to becoming more competent and comfortable with these lifts. There are 6 videos on the Clean, 3 on the Jerk and a whopping 7 on the Snatch! Like I said before, pick one that will help you specifically and give it a look-see.
Here we go:
The Clean
The Jerk
The Snatch
You will definitely not regret watching these videos considering what the WOD is today....
OLY Total:
Snatch
1-1-1
Clean and Jerk
1-1-1
*3 attempts per movement, 2 minutes rest between each lift
*Score is TOTAL weight successfully lifted.
"Just remember, somewhere out there a little Chinese girl is warming up with your max."
-Jim Conroy, Olympic Weightlifting Coach
Just so you guys have some numbers to think about, Wang Mingjuan weighs 105.6 lbs or less, she Snatched 200.2 lbs and she Clean and Jerked 250.8 lbs. Whoa...
