Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend and that you're all ready to get back into the swing of things this week! We got a real doozy for ya today!
But before we get to that, I want to congratulate everyone who participated in the Survival of the Fittest games at CrossFit Mohawk Valley this weekend!! They ALL did an amazing job. You've probably seen the pictures on facebook, and if you haven't, don't worry because I've got some for you here today. Each of these amazing athletes deserves a congratulations on their performances. There were PR's left and right, including our June athlete of the month, Shelly, who PR'd in THREE different lifts in one event!! There's nothing like the adrenaline rush from the crowd to help you move weight. Just ask coach Ben who surprised everyone, including himself, on the thruster/clean and jerk/deadlift ladder by "thruster-ing" 30 pounds more than his goal was for that event!! And these were NOT rare occurrences. These ladies (and Ben!) blew away all expectations on Saturday.
We even had two top-ten finishers in the scaled division!! Steph O. and Julie P. both cracked the top-ten, and Steph earned a 2nd place spot on the podium!
I can't say enough how exciting the competition was and how amazing everyone did. But there's something I was even more excited about. One of the judges commented on our showing at the competition, and how we were the most representative group there. All of our members, both spectators and competitors, were wearing their Seven Valley CrossFit shirts, and they were all cheering each other on throughout the entire day. Coach Dana even made signs so that our cheering squad stood out in the crowd! This makes me so happy because CrossFit is all about community, and our box has one of the best! Let's keep that up!
I'm positive that every single one of the athletes that competed this weekend is happy that they did. Ask any of them and they will encourage you to give it a try too! We'll keep you updated on any upcoming local competitions so that you can give it a go!
