We helped raise $10,565 for the American Heart Association!

Some of you have heard the grueling, yet wonderful stories of the Rochester Heart Games competition this past weekend that 6 of our 7VCF athletes participated in.... Here's the story, from my POV!

Sunday, June 14, 6 of our 7VCF athletes trekked through sunshine and Taylor Swift tunes to partake in an individual or team competition in Rochester. Our individual warriors were Kasey Pearsall and Kristen Smith, the male and female finalists from our gym. The 7VCF team, who should have been named, "The Unbroken Hearts Club" consisted of Chad M, Ben, Steph and yours truly, Dana.

Kasey and Kristen were up first for WOD 1. They were put to the test of sprints, handstand walks and snatches. Kasey dominated the run and set a lifetime PR with his handstand walks. 7VCF athletes proved themselves again in the run when Kristen crushed her heat.

The team event was slightly different, one of a prowler push (a sled of sorts) and handstand walks. Our Unbroken Hearts Club took 2 overall in the Prowler event and then Coach Ben racked up 60 ft. of handstand walking for us. Who knew that guy had so much skill upside down?

Event 2 for the individuals was challenging. Kasey P. was faced with one of his most difficult moves, overhead squats. He stayed the course and conquered the entire set of them, proudly. On the women's side, Kristen was not so much concerned about the OHS as she was the need to do bar muscle ups, as she'd never done one EVER! Well, when adrenaline is flowing and you've got a little bit of coaching and a lot of cheers from the crowd, anything is possible. Congrats to Kristen for getting her first Bar Muscle Up on Sunday!

The 2nd team event was a chipper with some classic CF moves, overhead squat, chest to bar, dips, back squats and front squats. This was right up our alley and we finished with time to spare!

The 3rd event led us to the POOL! That's right, a swimming pool! Both individuals and team had to do a combo of 50m swim and L-sits. Kasey and Kristen both had their best events here, while the 7VCF team realized that they're great on land, but have some things to work on in the water!

Overall, everyone had proud moments to take away from the day, and the satisfaction of knowing we helped to raise over $10,000 for a worthy cause. My heart was swollen with love by the end of the day.

Workout of the Day
10 Minute AMRAP
10 Burpees
5 Toe To Bar

Oh I see how it is. The one guy that has been begging for a pool event leaves and you guys get in the pool. What's up with that! :-)

Hey Rudy! I went to my first 5:30 class this morning and guess which new coach I beat?.. I'll admit it's just a fluke but I'll take it #imnotahaterijustcrushalot

Chad did indeed beat the new coach by 3 reps. I think he needs to show up at 5:30am again for a rematch.

Btw Rudy, it's way too quiet at 5:30am now without your snoring!

We miss you! Your name comes up quite often!
