Tabata this, tabata that...
Today's workout is a "tabata" style workout. All this means is that the workout is designed as 8 cycles of 20 seconds of work followed by 10 seconds of rest. The intensity might come in short bursts, but don't be fooled! For this workout, we are doing "true" tabata scoring; meaning that for each movement, your score will be the score for the round where you were able to complete the LEAST number of repetitions. There's no room for easing up on the gas! Tabata style workouts were designed by Izumi Tabata, before the start of CrossFit, but have since become a very popular in CrossFit programming.
ROD (Reason of the Day) to run the 5k!!: Mental toughness. We did a WHOLE week on this blog a few weeks ago about mental toughness (if you missed it, be sure to look back!), and have since been practicing our mental skills at the box every day. What better way to test your mental strength by running the 5k?! Distance running is said to be 90% mental, after all. It is a straight up 5k road race; no color, mud, zombies or whatever else they've come up with these days. Just you and the road. (Not that I'm bashing those "fun" runs, I'm a fan of whatever it takes to get people running!!) Let's see what you can do!
C2B pull ups
30 seconds rest in between movements
“A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more."
