If you see a bunch of whack-o's in a circle screaming and cheering for each other fret not! They are probably participating in the Dog Days of Summer Week 2 challenge! I encourage you to join that circle and see how many sit ups you can perform in 4 minutes. Grab a group of friends and go head to head against each other. Use others to help push yourself harder. Take a minute and check out the video at the top of the page. Mean Jean blasted through those sit ups with ease. Who is gonna beat her?
During the WOD today we will be doing a few dips. Your coach will be talking to you about your technique and I want to touch on some shoulder stability tips. If you are reading this then stand up and place your hands down at your sides. Think about pulling your shoulders back and down. Stop thinking about it and do it. Now I want you to picture that you are standing on the middle of a clock and I want you to externally rotate your shoulders and point your thumbs where 10 and 2 would be. This is a stable and solid position of support. Try to practice getting comfortable in this position. This will be where you start and finish. As always, if you have any questions then do not hesitate to ask your coach. We will be able to scale the dips in several different ways. If you prefer one way over another, let us know! You will have the option to utilize the metal dip bars that hook up to the pull up rig keep in mind that those tend to cater to people with a larger frame. If you shoulder positioning is compromised then we will have you change to a different option. There will be plenty of time for the WOD so be sure to have a set up that you can do safely but also one that is fairly difficult for you.
